The 7th NZC research school on Climate teleconnections and predictions in WuHan

The Seventh Summer Research School of Nansen-Zhu International Research Centre (NZC) took place during October 10-14th at China University of Geosciences in WuHan, China. Particpants of the 7th Nansen-Zhu Centre summer school on Climate Teleconnectections and Predictions.The main theme of the summer school is the ‘Climate Teleconnections and Predictions’. There are more than 120 participants from Nansen-Zhu International Research Center (NZC), China University of Geosciences (CUG), Peking University (PKU), Nanjing University (NJU), Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology (NUIST), Sun YAT-SEN University (SYSU); Nansen Environmental and Remote Sensing Center (NERSC), University of Bergen (UoB) and Uni Research (Uni).
The opening of the summer school was chaired by , Prof. Jianqi Sun, Director of the NZC. The founding director and co-chairman of the NZC advisory board, Prof. Huijun Wang, co-director of NZC and research director of NERSC, Prof. Yongqi Gao and the vice-president of the CUG gave the opening speeches representing the Chinese partners, the Norwegian partners and the local host.
The lectures cover the climate teleconnections between the Arctic and the lower-latitude regions, extra-tropical and the tropic oceans, the Pacific and the Atlantic oceans, the Asian monsoons and the oceans, and the seasonal to decadal climate predictions. The invited lectures are Prof. Huijun Wang (NZC/NUIST), Prof. Shuanglin Li (CUG), Prof. Guoyu Ren (CUG), Prof. Benkui Tan (PKU), Prof. Haijun Yang (PKU), Prof. Xiuqun Yang (NJU), Prof. Zhiping Wen, Prof. Daoyi Gong, Prof. Jianqi Sun (NZC), Prof. Dabang Jiang (NZC), Prof. Ke Fan (NZC), Prof. Yali Zhu (NZC) from China, and Prof. Nils Gunnar Kvamstø (UoB), Prof. Noel Keenlyside (UoB/NERSC), Dr Odd Helge Otterå (Uni), Dr Francois Counillon (NERSC/UoB) and Prof. Yongqi Gao (NERSC/NZC/UoB).
The aim of the Nansen-Zhu Summer School is to provide a platform for Chinese and Norwegian scientists and students to strengthen the international partnership in climate research. The Nansen-Zhu Summer School is a biennial event and the previous six schools have been organized in China, Norway and Austria.
